Please join us in praying the St. Philip Neri novena for the successful launch of our school! We will conclude on the feast day of St. Philip Neri with a Celebration of the Holy Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish. We hope you can join!
Saint Philip Neri, also known as the Apostle of Rome, was an Italian priest in the 16th century. He is especially noted for founding a society of secular priests called the Congregation of the Oratory.
With his distinctly joyous and personal manner Saint Philip Neri is also especially known for showing the humorous side of holiness, as well as for being extremely humble — as humility was one of the most important virtues he tried to teach others.
When asked how to pray, Saint Philip Neri would respond, “Be humble and obedient, and the Holy Spirit will teach you.”
St. Philip Neri Novena
Let us begin, In the name oft he Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Holy St. Philip Neri, Patron Saint of joy, you who trusted Scripture’s promise that the Lord is always at hand and that we need not have anxiety about anything, in your compassion heal our worries and sorrows and lift the burdens from our hearts.
We come to you as one whose heart swells with abundant love for God and all creation. Hear us, we pray, especially in this need…
For the success of the Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri
Keep us safe through your loving intercession, and may the joy of the Holy Spirit which filled your heart, St. Philip, transform our lives and bring us peace.
Amen
Pray: Our Father…Hail Mary…Glory Be…
