The medieval mind was informed by an understanding of the cosmos that, in turn, informed medieval science, literature, art and philosophy. C.S. Lewis describes that unifed worldview in The Discarded Image. The book is made especially juicy as it predates Dr. Ward’s discovery of a bit of medieval whimsy hidden by Lewis in plain sight within his Chronicles of Narnia.
